A – Annual which produces foliage, flowers and seeds in one season. Annuals do not survive for more than one year nor in temperatures below forty degrees.
B – Biennial which produces foliage in the first year and flowers and dies in the second year. Biennials often reseed producing another crop.
P –Perennials are plants which come back after freezing temperatures and thrive throughout the year usually going dormant in winter.
TP – Tender perennial are plants that may suffer some damage to cold temps.
